I.myss Marcato Real Color Lipstick Review

Hello honeylicious!

This post will all be about the
Marcato Real Color Lipstick
from the brand
I.MYSS

I got this lipstick as a prize last January 2012.
It was my first blessing of the year and i was very excited to try it out
since it's a cosmetic brand that i have never really tried out in the past.
I.myss is a Korean cosmetic brand so it's very unlikely to find this product in the malls,
apart from Tony Moly and Etude House,
most of it's goods can only be purchased online.
I got really lucky to have one to try.

The Marcato Real Color Lipstick Collection has 10 different beautiful shades
and i got the Pink Beige #3.

My First Impression:
It did not impress me at first.
After i wore it for the first time, my sister said:
"Pura kag patay 'te."
It means "You look like a dead person Ate,"
simply because I really looked so sickly and pale with it on.

*this is how i looked like the first time i tried this product,
it really gave me a shock!

I have never tried using a really "pale" nudy lipstick before,
so maybe my sister and i got overwhelmed seeing myself with that pale nudy look.

But
that was just at first because sooner i got used to it
and i found out ways on how i can use it to its maximum
and i will share it to you below,
but first let me just compare and contrast what this lipstick claims
from what i experienced from this product.

What the product claims:
-High glossy effect.
I can attest to that. It is one of the features of this product that i love about, and the "glossy-ness" really lasts for quite sometime and the color does not really fade easily even after eating.
-Multi-effect.
I think the "multi-effect" that they are saying is quite ambiguous and misleading.
However, i could not agree more that it has great moisturizing effects since it contains grape seed oil, which is a common ingredient among cosmetic brands to control moisture either on the lips, or the skin.
It also helps condition the lips.
-Luminous Pearl Effect.
All i can say is two thumbs up!
-Fresh Flowery Scent
I saw a poster of this product claiming that it has a fresh flowery scent.
Well, the lipstick has a pleasant smell but i can't figure out its actuality since the smell is similar to the smell of my other lipsticks. There is really no distinction.

Packaging:
very chic
looks expensive
practical
easy to use

Pros:
affordable price
glossy/shimmery effect
moisturizing effect
pearl effect on the lips
non-sticky
stays long
blends well with other lipsticks
pleasant, soft smell
variety of shades to choose from

Cons:
paleness
lack of vibrance
availability

Swatches:

*plain lipstick on my lips

*with a nudy lip liner

Though I didn't have a good start with this lipstick,
i later discovered something that made me to start liking the product.
I will tell you the secret why i started loving it.

I have matte lipsticks with really strong and dark shades such as crimson and orange.
There was a time, i was trying on those lipsticks and i was thinking on how i can tone down the strong colors so it can be wearable on a daily basis.
I tried to apply the Marcato Real Color on top of the crimson lipstick that i have
and i actually love the result.
After i combine this lipstick with another one which is more bold in color, i'd really love its finish.
